So whenever I have an early class and the subway is standing room only, to keep myself from falling asleep I have a little ritual: (1) buy a large double-double at the donut place run by the overly perky Filipino ladies at Don Mills and (2) try to listen to this song at some point during my journey to school to pump myself up. I specifically try to put it on right before I get to Bloor station and I have to transfer to the green line by maneuvering through fucktons of drones going in eighty different directions. I find if I align my walking pace with the beat I'm pretty good when I make it a game to avoid getting hit by anyone, Frogger-style.
I'm not the hugest fan of k-os, sometimes his lyrics (when he raps) are too cheesy: "Life is a mystery, this could be, the end of all history". Hey k-os, I'm pretty sure I used that line in a story I wrote in Grade Two about the earth being attacked by a purple spaghetti monster. But maybe that's what he's going for, I dont know. He also overuses "intergalactic" and other space-theme-y words; does anyone else notice that or is that just me and my nitpicky OCD kicking in? Anyways, he's a good singer when he's not adjusting his voice to have some sort of bad British accent.. I sort of think of him as a cross between Mos Def and Kermit the Frog. He also put on a decent live show when I saw him for free a few years back, to his credit.
Also? I kind of like this song.
You see it everyday
All the people standing at the train station
Left, right, left, right, left, right
We don't talk to each other now
What an alien nation
Uptight, uptight, uptight

Video: Show us a great music video.
At first I was going to post the Michael and Janet video for "Scream", mostly because I remember when I was little and it first came out it only played in between shows on one of the cable networks and I'd always wait patiently for it to come on, because really? Who cannot resist both Jacksons grabbing their crotches in black shiny PVC outfits? I know that to this day whenever I see the video, I still have trouble keeping my pants on.
But the real video that always gets me is Everlong. Another one of those videos that I'd patiently wait for MuchMusic to play, you know um, back when they played videos. Those of you who've seen Science of Sleep know that this video is sort of a precursor to the movie. I'm a big Michel Gondry fan, but I'm also a fan of Foo Fighters videos.. Learn to Fly is another one that I quite enjoy.. I think I have a men dressed in drag/fat-suits fetish.I also wanted an excuse to post the acoustic version. One of the greatest love songs ever, do we agree? Good.
